www.stores.ebay.com/motrak-modelsI really like the longer shows. I have an hour for commute each way. It was a great interview with Doug. I also ordered his DVD today. He does great work on detailing.
I want to thank Ryan for the interview. I think it went pretty good. Got more orders today. So guys, we got two more weeks left to help to support Ryan and the Model Railcast Show. Great interview with Alan as well. |

www.tamvalleyrr.comGreat show by all accounts. There are photos of 2 of Doug's great kits that I built in the photo section. This background building
and my favorite of his buildings, WKLO radio I really enjoyed building them and have an order in for the oyster building -hoping it ships soon :-) I am a big fan of laser cutting - it has brought back wood for building structures which looks the best when finished. I have a few scars on my hands to show how difficult it was to cut those window and door openings with an Xacto knife :-) |

www.modelrailcast.com/Thank guys. And Duncan... yeah... I order the Hooper Oyster building also... I am looking forward to it.
On a side note... I listened to the AAC (m4a) version today and noticed that I missed a chapter marker at the end for my chat with Alan, so I am re-mixing it and will have it online soon. |

Hi Ryan,
wonderful show! I liked a lot and probably I'm going to have a look at Doug DVD as well. Just for your info, the link "right-click this link here to download the AAC version" to the AAC version in the 64th show page (http://modelrailcast.com/MrcBlog/Show64.asp) -that is this one- points to show 61 not the latest one. I downloaded the 64th going to the feed page (http://modelrailcast.com/Feeds/mrcAAC.xml) where the right AAC file is linked. Thanks again for the show... Regards, Ricky4208. P.S. Even if I don't have any car yet maybe I'll get some products from Motrak and save them for the future... |
|
Gee. I have an inventory of about 160 HO-scale railroad cars (more than sufficient) but none for which Motrak seemed to have designed. As for open hoppers/gondolas, I've got Red Caboose GS gondolas and various 40-ish-long Westerfield and Funaro gondolas. (I'm not a fan of Walthers, Athearn, or Bowser models.)
Self: stop the whining and get over it. Anyway, thanks for the entertaining and informative shows as well as for Ryan's confederates for carrying on when he isn't able. |

model-railroad-hobbyist.com/blog/671It would be interesting to hear more about the Railroad & Company software. One of the layouts I operate and work on regularly runs with it entirely. I have a pretty good idea of what it does.. but it might be interesting to listeners to hear more about it. Personally, I don't want my layout so dependent on a computer and the RR&co software really requires a commitment in that regard to make full use of it.. but to each their own.
I thought at times this episode bordered on being an infomercial. I hope model railcast continues its history of being more about guys talking about trains then businesses talking about their products. I was getting a little weary after the 100th "guys, you really got to buy this.." Chris |

JMRI has a feature whereby a remote computer can control a layout over the internet:
http://jmri.sourceforge.net/help/en/html/hardware/loconet/LbServer. shtml On another note, I used the JaduVNC app for the iPhone to VPN into my layout computer running JMRI and was operating my layout from my phone My wife shot me this *look* the one that says "...why on earth was that necessary?" Response: "Engineers build things because they CAN BE DONE not because they are actually needed!!!" |

nanotheater.comI've heard less gushing interviews on informercials about the 'Kitchen Magician' Less gush- more real content- listen to Terry Goss on NPR. Plug the guy's book, DVD, or kit- but please ask questions or let them explain themselves. Let them explain why their product is important.

www.modelrailcast.com/Ouch! Man! Did I mess up that bad! Sorry guys. I will keep you comments and concerns in mind moving forward. The MRCS is not to become a infomercial pin cushion.

nanotheater.comI think the show is good- very good- and I want it to be better- I think you have taken and moved the bar substantially upward. When you listen to even partisan political talk shows- the best let or MAKE the guest develop the point.
It's a hard skill to learn- to listen rather than direct- and to explore without being painfully simplistic. having been interviewed on NPR a couple of times- I can appreciate the skill of the interviewer- but observe as they 'prep' me in advance as to their questions, and let me 'plug' my skills/services. Impressed? yes to have Tony Koester, and some of your other people online- YES. But keep your standards high. |

Follow-up on my May 19 post....
I caught Jeff on the chatline a couple days ago. He took pity on me so is making coal, sand, gravel and pumice(?) loads for my Red Caboose gondolas! Thanks, Jeff. Mark |

I think Nanotheater was unfairly toasted. He offered a lot of praise along with some constructive critism. I tried to boast his comment to untoast him but I kept getting an error message and it wouldn't let me. (An obvious subversive plot to undermind me I say!!!) JUST KIDDING.
I have to agree with Nanotheater. He makes some valid points. I used to be in radio and conducted a few interviews durring that time with bands, so I've had experience with this. I'm sure Ryan was thilled to have Doug on, but he needed to let Doug talk without interuption after being asked a question. Many times durring the podcast I found myself saying "Ryan let the guy finish his own sentences!" Ryan, take this as constructive critism. I love the show and I look foward to the show every week! BTW, thanks for the tip Ryan on how to slow down the audio on my Ipod. Now I can go back and relisten to show 63 and slow Craig down. :P LOL
